Carlos Cardon is a Postdoctoral associate at
the Institute of Plant Breeding, Genetic and Genomics, on the UGA Tifton campus
with Dr. Ozias-Akin’s group. Carlos earned his PhD in Plant Biotechnology from
the Federal University of Lavras, Brazil while also spending time at the
University of Guelph, Canada. Carlos’s thesis work was focused on gene
regulation of plant reproduction, including work with different species such as
Coffee, Sugar cane and the model Arabidopsis.
Carlos is a researcher passionate for science with
hands-on experience in many levels of plant molecular laboratory techniques and
bioinformatics, including performance, group coordination, research assistance,
and experimental data analysis. Carlos is constantly looking for new
opportunities that will contribute to his personal and professional life; he is
focused on improving his career in molecular and computational biology, since he
considers it a wonderful and exciting area while also being a powerful tool to
help the world to drive the everyday challenges regarding the climate change
and food supply.
