student in sociology at UGA. View the interview and read more to find out about Natalia's research and experience:
"My research focuses on how the criminal legal system affects the health and well-being of individuals and communities. During my Ph.D. research, I intend to look at the mortality and morbidity of individuals and families that have been exposed to prison life and prison institutions in Latin America and the United States.
Before coming to UGA, I was an assistant professor of law at Insper, Sao Paulo. I am currently a Senior Research Fellow on the International Right to Health at the Solomon Center for Health Law and Policy at Yale Law School and a co-founder and researcher at the Center for the Analysis of Liberty and Authoritarianism (LAUT), a Brazilian think-thank committed to producing and disseminating knowledge on democracy, justice, and the rule of law. I hold a Ph.D. in Public Law from the University of Sao Paulo and an LLM from Yale Law School, as well as two Bachelor's degrees in Law and Social Sciences from the University of Sao Paulo. I served as a Fox International Fellow at the MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale University and as a Student Fellow at the Global Health Justice Partnership at Yale Law School."
