Participants will learn to:
- Increase awareness of UGA resources available for students
- Offer strategies for basic intervention techniques when a student is distressed
- Explain proper channels of referrals to these resources
Presenters:
Dr. Carrie Smith
serves as the Assistant Dean of Students for Student Care & Outreach, providing individualized support and assistance to students experiencing hardship circumstances. She oversees general case management. Also, Carrie provides trainings and informational sessions to campus and community partners about working with students of concern and the role of Student Care & Outreach. Carrie serves as a member of the university’s Behavioral Assessment and Response Council (BARC).
Hannah Craswell is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who joined the University Health Center’s Counseling and Psychiatric Services in 2019. She serves as a Behavioral Health Care Manager through the Collaborative Care program, an initiative to provide mental health care within the primary care setting.
