Dr. Fabio Henrique Silva Floriano de Toledo, a visiting scholar in UGA's Savannah River Ecology Lab, is working on the remediation of contaminated soils using trees. He is a forest engineer with a Ph.D. in forest resources. Previously a professor in Brazil, he is now a postdoc at UGA and hoping to eventually become a professor in the US. With the group he works with at the Savannah River Site, he was recently granted the 2022 DOE sustainability award (Phytoremediation project - Savannah River Site).
