This Spotlight Series highlights the experience of Viviane De Souza Klen-Alves Moore. Viviane recently defended her thesis …a big achievement, and we offer sincere congratulations!
Viviane originally came on a Fulbright scholarship to UGA where she discovered the most robust Portuguese program in the US existed.
Her dissertation focused on the implementation
of telecollaboration (virtual exchange) into the language classroom. Viviane
worked as a graduate student assistant within two different departments.
For the Portuguese Flagship Program Viviane coordinated
cultural events and activities to immerse students in the culture of Brazil. She
also directed study abroad and virtual exchange opportunities and helped with
outreach: bringing middle and high school students for a day on campus.
For the TESOL and World Language programs, Viviane
teaches methods courses and supervises future World Language teachers in
undergraduate and master's programs.
In her interview, Viviane shares about helpful UGA resources that gave her support while she worked on her degree. One particularly helpful one she found was the UGA Food Pantry.
