SE3 Performance Brahman Bulls
I like the Performance Brahman bulls 4-3-1-2. In a top pair of stout, rugged bulls who perform both on paper and in the pen, I like 4 to sort up. The high calving ease bull hits me as the complete herd sire who is plenty expressive in his muscle shape and bold in the turn to his rib, all with no sacrifice to fundamental soundness. He’s good enough to produce breeding stock that will be competitive in the show ring with no sacrifice to the growth and practicality sought by commercial cattlemen. Now, I’ll admit that 3 is the power piece in this lineup. He’s the most impressive in terms of muscle and dimension, and as I study him at the surface, he’s the stouter featured bull, but it’s when he’s asked to go that I mark him second. The shorter sided bull is a bit more restricted and wants to drop his pins as he goes.
Even so, there’s no question that he should sort over 1 in my intermediate decision. He is simply the bigger topped, thicker ended bull whose progeny would catch the eye of any commercial producer. Sure, 1 is certainly reaches with more flex off his rear 2, but this just isn’t enough to offset that he is the flatter sided bull who closes up considerably at his base.
Still, I’ll sacrifice some muscle to use him over 2 in the bottom pair. To me, it’s balance and structure that give him the edge. He’s the deeper sided bull who is more relaxed as the cattle circle. I’ll certainly give the nod to the shapely and expressive 2 who is wider out of his upper hip, but it’s as I study him from the side that I mark him fourth. Not only is he the tightest and shallowest in his center body, but he is also the most restricted off either end of his skeleton when set into motion. Thank you.
