Purpose: To assess the generation of the past, present and possible futures of the international and interdisciplinary scholarly field of television studies; to help nurture a new generation of television-studies scholars; to recognize, acknowledge and celebrate the contributions to television studies of Dr. Horace Newcomb (Lambdin Kay Chair of the Peabodys, Grady College) over his 42-year career.
